1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
We are human, and sin. God knows this, and that is why He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to die on the cross, and save us. Pray to God in faith to forgive you and give you the strength to not continue in sin.
I was thinking of times in my life when everything is going wrong and I start freaking out, really out of control. It seems like there is no way out, and even though I know God is there right beside me, my thoughts don’t always turn to Him. This is the time when I need to stop yelling, throwing things, and say to myself, ‘CALM DOWN’. Then pray to God. ‘Dear God, please take all of this negativity in my heart and mind away, turning them to positive thinking and actions. Give me peace, and remind me of your love and grace.’ Bring out your Bible and let God guide you to verses that will strengthen your heart again to move on in your life.
There will be times we, as christians, fall backwards, and feel like there is no return or a way out of the turmoil, but God wants you to live life letting Him take the reigns once in a while.
Psalm 46:1“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Psalm 111:1-3 Praise the Lord!I will praise the Lord with my whole heart,
in the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.
2 The works of the Lord are great, studied by all who have pleasure in them.
3 His work is honorable and glorious, and His righteousness endures forever.
The reasons for praising God are many; His great works, His glorious and honorable deeds, and His enduring righteousness.
Psalm 118:28-29 You are my God, and I will praise You; You are my God, I will exalt You.
29 Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
Psalm 30:11-12 You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have put off my sackcloth and clothed me with gladness, 12 To the end that my glory may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.
When life is going well and we are feeling secure, we may lose the need to turn to God. Turn to Him with praise, and be forever thankful for His abundant love.
Philippians 2:12-13 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
When we admit we are powerless over an addiction or compulsive behavior in our lives we open up to reach out to God, knowing He wants to fill us with His love, joy, hope and presence. This turns our eyes toward God as our source of healing.
God sent Jesus, His only Son to save us from sin and sickness. He sent Him to earth where He was tempted as we are in all ways but without sin. Jesus is the highest power because He has conquered all life can dish out. He is our ally to help us through the hard times.
Hebrews 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,
2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before Him He endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
Hang on to God’s hands, and let Him take the lead. True change comes only when you die to yourself and allow Christ to set the pace.
PRAYER: Father God, thank you for taking charge of my mess and helping me run my race with confidence. You are responsible for everything I am and ever hope to be. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
